What we test

Oestrogen

Oestrogen is a primary female sex hormone that regulates reproductive and sexual development, particularly in women.

Why we test this: Monitoring oestrogen levels is crucial for assessing menstrual cycle health, fertility, and hormonal balance. Regular testing can help identify hormonal imbalances that may affect mood, energy, and reproductive health. It supports proactive management of conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and menopause.

Progesterone

Progesterone is a hormone that plays a significant role in regulating the menstrual cycle and maintaining pregnancy.

Why we test this: Testing progesterone levels helps evaluate ovulation, diagnose fertility issues, and monitor high-risk pregnancies. Regular monitoring can also aid in managing menstrual disorders and ensuring hormonal balance for overall reproductive health.

FSH

Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) is crucial for reproductive processes, including the development of eggs in women.

Why we test this: Monitoring FSH levels helps assess fertility, diagnose reproductive disorders, and evaluate menopausal status. Regular testing supports reproductive health by ensuring the proper functioning of the ovaries.

LH

Luteinising Hormone (LH) triggers ovulation in women and plays a key role in the menstrual cycle.

Why we test this: Testing LH levels is essential for evaluating reproductive health, diagnosing fertility issues, and monitoring ovulation. Regular LH testing can help manage menstrual disorders and support overall reproductive health.

Prolactin

Prolactin is a hormone primarily involved in stimulating milk production after childbirth.

Why we test this: Monitoring prolactin levels can help diagnose conditions like prolactinoma (a type of pituitary tumor), and identify causes of irregular menstrual cycles or infertility. Regular testing ensures hormonal balance and supports reproductive health.

Testosterone

Testosterone is also important for women, influencing muscle mass, bone density, and overall energy levels.

Why we test this: Regular testing of testosterone levels helps monitor hormone balance, which can affect physical and mental health. It supports proactive management of conditions related to low or high testosterone levels, such as fatigue, mood swings, and changes in muscle mass.

DHEAS

DHEAS is a precursor hormone that is converted into other hormones, including oestrogen and testosterone.

Why we test this: Testing DHEAS levels helps assess adrenal gland function and diagnose hormonal imbalances. Regular monitoring can support overall health, manage symptoms of adrenal disorders, and ensure balanced hormone production.

Cortisol

Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands, playing a vital role in stress response, metabolism, and immune function.

Why we test this: Testing cortisol levels helps manage stress, monitor adrenal function, and detect disorders like Cushing’s syndrome and Addison’s disease. Regular testing can support stress management, energy levels, and overall well-being by ensuring cortisol levels are balanced.
